The Fingerslayer Blade is one of the most critical key items in Elden Ring, serving as the central requirement to advance Ranni the Witch's sprawling questline. Obtaining this mysterious artifact unlocks crucial narrative paths and rewards, including access to the Carian Inverted Statue. However, tracking down its exact location requires players to navigate deep into the subterranean regions of the Lands Between.

Prerequisites for Reaching the Treasure

Before you can retrieve the key item, you must first defeat Starscourge Radahn to open the gateway to the underground region. Once Radahn is vanquished, a star falls in Limgrave, creating a massive crater near Mistwood that leads straight down into Nokron, Eternal City.

Additionally, you must officially pledge your service to Ranni at Ranni's Rise in Three Sisters. If you attempt to reach the treasure chest without entering her service, the game will prevent you from opening it.

Navigating Through Night's Sacred Ground

After descending into Nokron and defeating the Mimic Tear boss, cross the wide aqueduct bridge toward the Ancestral Woods Site of Grace. From this grace point, leap onto the nearby rooftops to enter the Night's Sacred Ground sub-area.

Carefully navigate across the ledges, arches, and rooftops while avoiding or defeating the Silver Tear enemies along the path. Continue downward toward street level until you reach the main plaza area near the Night's Sacred Ground Site of Grace.

Locating the Chest and Claiming the Blade

From the Night's Sacred Ground Site of Grace, head down the central hallway toward a giant throne featuring a massive skeletal structure. The area is guarded by several enemies, but you can sprint past them if you prefer a quick run.

Directly beneath the feet of the giant skeleton sits a large stone chest. Open the chest to collect the Fingerslayer Blade along with a Great Ghost Glovewort for spirit tuning.

Next Steps in Ranni's Questline

Once the item is in your inventory, fast travel back to Ranni's Rise and deliver the artifact to Ranni. She will express her gratitude and reward you with the Carian Inverted Statue, which opens the Carian Study Hall.

Keep in mind that handing over the blade will conclude Preceptor Seluvis's questline, so complete his tasks beforehand if you want his specific rewards. Delivering the blade sets in motion the final stages of Ranni's journey, unlocking one of the game's major unique endings.
